A man who was treated in hospital for stab wounds is being questioned on suspicion of the murder of a shop worker in east London at the weekend.

James Sweeney, 30, was stabbed several times in the chest and stomach in a flat in Clapton on Saturday night. He died at the scene.

Three men were arrested after witnesses described an argument outside the address in Jessam Avenue.

One 29-year-old man was held after he attended an east London hospital suffering from stab wounds. The man was later discharged and was being interviewed today at an east London police station.

In separate incidents a 19-year-old man was seriously ill in hospital today after being stabbed by a gang in Vauxhall Park at around 7.20pm on Saturday and a 29-year-old man is fighting for life after being beaten in a dispute in Lamorna Close, Walthamstow at around 10.25pm last night.
