A man is being held on suspicion of attempted murder after a stabbing in north London that left another man fighting for his life in hospital.

Police were called to reports of a man with a knife in Lawrence Road, south Tottenham, around quarter past midnight on Sunday.

They arrived to find a man in his 30s who was suffering stab injuries.

He was treated at the scene by officers and paramedics, and taken to hospital.

Police confirmed on Monday his condition is being treated as life-threatening.

Cordons were put in place along Lawrence Road and Lawrence Close while police carried out a forensic examination of the area.

A Scotland Yard spokesperson said on Monday: “Police have arrested a man on suspicion of attempted murder. He remains in custody.”
