A young man has died after being shot on a quiet road near an east London station.

Armed police descended on the scene of the incident near Maryland station in Stratford at 10.40pm on Friday.

Paramedics also raced to the incident in Well Street, and a 19-year-old man was rushed to an east London hospital.

Scotland Yard said no arrests have been made.

A spokesman said: “Police are in the process of informing next of kin.

“A post-mortem examination will be held in due course. Formal identification awaits.

“Detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command are investigating.

“There have been no arrests and enquiries continue.”
