A teenager has been locked up after he admitted scamming hundreds of people looking to buy tickets to Bestival.

Benjamin Hyland-Ward, 19, left around 375 people disappointed after taking about £60,000 for tickets he failed to produce or provide a refund for.

People complained to police in their droves about being left ticketless after paying to go to the festival on the Isle of Wight in 2015 to see acts including Duran Duran and Missy Elliott.

Hundreds of people joined a Facebook page titled "Stresstival", with many posters complaining about being left out of pocket and with no tickets.

Hyland-Ward was charged with nine counts of fraud by false representation last year and pleaded guilty at Lewes Crown Court on December 12.

Following a "long and complex" investigation, Hyland-Ward, from Saltdean in East Sussex, was sentenced to 21 months in a young offenders' institution, Sussex Police said.
