A man was stabbed in the head in a horrific attack in south-east London.

The 43-year-old victim suffered serious injuries after being knifed in Central Way in Thamesmead at about 9pm on Thursday.

He was taken to a central London hospital.

A spokeswoman for the Met said police were called to reports of a stabbing.

"His condition is believed to be serious," she said.

"A crime scene has been established. This includes road closures in the area. Road users are advised to avoid the area if possible."

Officers from Greenwich are investigating.

There have been no arrests and enquiries continue.
