Three men have been arrested after a van driver died in a collision in north London.

Police and paramedics were called to Southbury Road, Enfield, shortly before 2.10am on Monday after a white Ford Transit van was found on its roof.

The driver, a man in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A second vehicle – a black BMW 4x4 – which police believe was involved, failed to stop at the scene and was later found abandoned in Chingford.

A 34-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and was taken into custody at a north London police station.

Two other men, aged 26 and 30 years old, were later arrested in connection with the incident.

A Metropolitan Police Service spokesman said the deceased man’s next of kin have been informed and formal identification is yet to take place.

Detectives from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit at Chadwell Heath traffic garage are continuing to investigate.

Anyone with information should call the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 020 8597 4874 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
