Two men have been arrested after allegedly stealing a puppy at knifepoint in north London today.

Police were called shortly before 8am to reports of knife robbers snatching a puppy in Church Street, Enfield.

Detectives arrived and tackled two men, who were arrested and taken to a north London police station for questioning, Scotland Yard said.

The puppy, a Staffordshire bull terrier and Labrador cross, was safely recovered and reunited with its owners.

A Met Police spokesman said the alleged victim of the robbery was not seriously harmed and did not require hospital treatment.

He added: “Both arrested men have been taken to north London police station for questioning.

“Enquiries are continuing to trace a third suspect."
