Police investigating a shooting in which a man died after an attack by a gang have made two further arrests.

Marcus Innocent, 35, was killed in Woolwich, south-east London, at 6.20pm on Monday following an altercation with a large group of up to 20 people near shops in Kingsman Street, Scotland Yard said.

Police believe Mr Innocent was initially set upon by one person from the group, and then by a larger number, after which he was shot.

Some members of the group then ran off, while others got into cars parked in nearby Lord Warwick Street and drove off.

Police have since arrested and bailed eight men on suspicion of murder.

The latest arrests, of a man aged 18 and another aged 37, were made yesterday.

The 18-year-old was bailed to January, while the 37-year-old must answer bail later this week.

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses.

Det Chief Insp Chris Le Pere said: "I appeal to anyone who was in the area of Lord Warwick Street and Kingsman Street that evening who saw this group or who may have seen the events leading up to this murder.

"If you witnessed this shooting, or the events leading up to or immediately after it, please call the incident room."

Anyone with information should call police on 0208 247 4553 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
