Two people are seriously injured in hospital today after being stabbed at a mental health unit.
Emergency services rushed to the scene after the pair were knifed at the mental hospital in Dartford, Kent.
Police and paramedics were called to reports of a disturbance at the Bracton Centre shortly before midday.
Kent Police said a man had been arrested in connection with the incident.
He remained in custody this afternoon.
A Kent Police spokesman said: “The incident was contained within the centre. Officers are not looking for anyone else.
“Officers remain at the scene as part of their enquiries.”
A spokesman for Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust said: "We can confirm that there was a serious incident at the Bracton Centre, Medium Secure Mental Health Unit, yesterday.
"Two of our members of staff sustained injuries during this incident. They are in hospital receiving treatment and we have been informed that they are in a serious but stable condition.
"We are offering support to patients and staff affected by the incident, and to the families of our two colleagues who were directly involved.
"A police investigation is underway and a patient from the Bracton Centre has been arrested.
"We are unable to provide further details at this time due to the ongoing police investigation."
