A man was shot twice in the back as he tried to escape from a merciless gunman, an Old Bailey jury was told.

Ogarra Dixon was murdered moments after meeting Shaden Cadette, 23, on a street in Brixton.

Cadette admits he was present when Mr Dixon was shot but claims the killing was carried out by an unknown man.

Prosecutor Timothy Cray QC told the court the motive for the shooting remains unknown... “the victim cannot speak as to what all this is about as he is dead”.

He said Mr Dixon, who had earlier spoken of being involved in a fight, had driven to Marcella Road in Brixton just after midnight and minutes later Cadette arrived on a moped.

“He went into his house just up the street and the likelihood is he went to arm himself with a gun,” Mr Cray added.

He claimed Mr Dixon got out of his car to speak to Cadette “not knowing he was armed. Cadette pulled a gun, Ogarra turned to run away but the defendant showed no mercy towards Ogarra who was starting to run for his life. Instead he shot Ogarra twice in the back.” Cadette denies murder and the trial continues.
