Police today launched an appeal for witnesses following a crash between a cyclist and a car in central London.

The crash, involving a female cyclist in her 20s and a blue Audi car on the Victoria Embankment, near Temple Place, happened shortly before 8pm on October 17.

The cyclist was seriously injured and was treated at the scene by paramedics.

She was taken to hospital, where she remains in a serious but stable condition.

Two men, both in their 30s, were arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

They were taken into custody before being released under investigation.

Any witnesses or anyone with any information is asked to call police on 020 8543 5157 or 101, quoting CAD 7117 of October 17.
