A teenager has been rushed to hospital after being stabbed in east London.

Police, paramedics and London's Air Ambulance scrambled to the scene following reports of the attack in Walthamstow shortly after 5.30pm on Thursday.

The boy, believed aged 17, was found suffering knife wounds on Markhouse Road.

A spokeswoman for the Metropolitan Police said it awaits an update on the victim's condition.

A cordon remains in place following the incident.

There have been no arrests and enquiries continue.

Waltham Forest Police tweeted: "We are responding to an incident on Markhouse Road E17.

"A person has been taken to hospital with stab injuries.

"Updates to follow."
