A man is still fighting for his life almost three weeks after he was struck down by a car fleeing from police in Hounslow.

The pedestrian was left with serious injuries when he was mowed down by a dark-coloured Volkswagen at around 1am on October 3.

The car had failed to stop for police just moments before in Wellington Road South.

Officers called for the vehicle to pull over but instead it carried on, turned right into Staines Road and hit a passer-by.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) is investigating and has appealed for any witnesses to get in contact.

PCC operations manager Colin Dewar, who is heading up the investigation, said: "We are looking for anybody who saw police activity in the Wellington Road South and Staines Road area of Hounslow in the early hours of October 3 to get in touch.

"A man sustained serious injuries when he was hit by a car, which had just been asked to stop by police.

"Our investigation will look at the circumstances of the police contact with the driver of the VW."

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact the IPCC on 0800 096 9977 or email stainesroadrti@ipcc.gsi.gov.uk
