Police are appealing for help in identifying a man after a woman was sexually assaulted in Hackney.

The unnamed woman was having a conversation on her mobile phone when she was accosted by a man who put his hand up her skirt before sexually assaulting her at 12.50am on September 16 on Mare Street, near the junction of Sylvester Road.

The woman yelled at the man who then walked off.

Detectives would like to trace any witnesses who were in the area at the time and have urged anyone with information to get in touch.

Witnesses or anyone with any information is asked to call police on 101 quoting CAD 260/16Sep or Crimestoppers, 100 per cent anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
