A woman has been temporarily blinded in one eye after two men threw a “noxious substance” in an attack at a pub in Suffolk.

The victim was attacked in the Glad Abbot pub in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, at around 11pm on Friday.

She was treated by paramedics, but police have not released details the extent of any lasting injuries.

Suffolk Police said two men, one wearing a hooded top and one wearing a baseball cap, entered the pub and threw the substance from a bottle.

Officers are not treating the incident as a random attack, but believe the woman in her 30s was not the intended target.

They are trying to determine what the substance was.

Police are investigating possible connections between the attack and a dangerous driving incident reported just after 10pm on the same evening.

Officers received "a number of calls" about two cars, believed to be a Ford Fiesta and a Vauxhall Insignia, driving dangerously and crashing into each other in the Out Risbygate and Newmarket Road area of Bury St Edmunds.
