Police are investigating the death of a woman after her body was dragged from a river overlooked by a golf club in east London.

Officers were called to the spot on the River Roding opposite Ilford Golf Course at around 9am yesterday.

Police know the identity of the woman but she has not yet been formally identified. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers are probing the circumstances of her death, but at are not treating it as suspicious. A post-mortem is set to be carried out today.
