Formula One ace Jenson Button swapped his fire-resistant driving suit for designer pyjamas today as he called on Londoners to go to work in their nightwear for a “big sleepover” on Red Nose Day.

Button, 33, selected a check Hugo Boss pair — although he confessed he also likes to sleep in a onesie — to support the Evening Standard’s campaign to raise money for the poor.

Everyone in London is being urged to get sponsorship for wearing their

nightwear to work on March 15, as part of our Dispossessed Fund’s partnership with Comic Relief.

Button said London will feel like “one big sleepover where everyone’s invited” and he urged as many people as possible to get involved.

He said: “It’s fun, for a good cause and think about how much easier it will be. You don’t have to get dressed for work and you’ll be ready for bed when you get home.”

The former world champion added: “It gets pretty hot in the car, so if I didn’t have to wear a fire-resistant suit, I probably wouldn’t wear much.”

Button is one of a plethora stars to support the campaign. Singer Paloma Faith and comedian Russell Kane are backing our pyjama party along with the casts of several West End shows including Top Hat and Singin’ in the Rain, and players from Harlequins and Saracens rugby teams.
