Jobs are just the ticket for youngsters at World Para Athletics Championships

With just a day to go before the world’s best para athletes go head to head at the London Stadium, three young people from groups supported by the Evening Standard Dispossessed Fund were given special reason to celebrate.

Nathan Marston and Sheldon Philbert from boxing group Dwaynamics, and Agne Daunoraviciute from Salaam Peace, a charity promoting tolerance through sport, were offered apprenticeships in the London 2017 ticketing team. They will work at the World Para Athletics Championships in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park from July 14 to 23, and at the IAAF World Championships at the same venue from August 4 to 13.

Both Dwaynamics and Salaam Peace are among scores of charities to have taken advantage of the Standard’s special offer of free tickets for the night of Thursday July 20. The three youngsters will have up to eight sessions each as ticket operations assistants, for £100 a time.

Dwaynamics, the community group from Angell Town estate in Brixton at the heart of our Estate We’re In campaign, last week won a Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.
