A straight A student "looked utterly mortified" as his proud mother grabbed him for a kiss on the cheek live on BBC Breakfast.

The BBC programme was live at Greenfaulds High School, on the outskirts of Glasgow, to mark the publication of Scottish exam results.

One boy, Fraser, had just revealed his excellent results, achieving five As. “I’ve done fine,” he blushed.

Presenter Catriona Renton then spoke to proud mother Alison, who made a beeline for her son.

Wincing and trying to escape her clutches, Fraser begged: “Please don’t!”

Pupils in Scotland were finding out how they had performed in their National 4 and 5s, Highers and Advanced Highers exams.
