Boxer David Haye is one of the icons seeking to tackle the “taboo subject” of the most common cancer in black men, prostate cancer, in a poster campaign.

He features in Prostate Cancer UK’s Stronger Knowing More campaign, which encourages black men to get checked by their doctors.

One in four will be diagnosed with the disease — double the risk for white men — and one in 12 will die from it, but the charity says more must speak about it.

Also taking part are poet Benjamin Zephaniah, Labour MP Chuka Umunna and Olympic sprinter Linford Christie.

Zephaniah said: “Prostate cancer has always been a bit hush hush. I’ve started to lose friends to the disease.

“The fact that when I’m sitting down with eight mates, two of them will get the disease is frightening. Not talking about it will not make it go away.” The stars posed for Hackney photographer Dennis Morris, who said: “I hope the images encourage men to think about their own prostate cancer risk and take steps to address it.”
