A nurse faces being struck off after being accused of performing oral sex on a mental health patient in south-east London.

Elizabeth Akinbote allegedly made suggestive remarks to the man, placed his hands on her bare breasts, stroked his groin and performed the sex act.

The registered mental health nurse was working at the Erith Centre mental health facility in Bexley when she allegedly took advantage the man, known only as Patient A, over a number of months.

She is facing a string of allegations at a fitness to practise hearing held by the Nursing and Midwifery Council, the watchdog for nurses, which started today.

The accusations cover a period from February to July 2012, both at the Erith Centre and at the man’s home.

Ms Akinbote is also accused of kissing the man on his cheek, neck and lips and stroking him on his thigh, torso and bottom during this time period.

She could be struck off the nursing register if the council rules against her.

She has not faced any criminal charges over the allegations.

Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust, which runs the Erith Centre and employed Ms Akinbote, has been contacted for a comment.
