A man has been taken to hospital after being attacked by his dog in a north London park.

Armed police were among officers scrambled to Albany Park in Enfield Wash at 3pm on Sunday, to reports of a dangerous dog.

They arrived to find the dog’s owner, a man in his 30s, had been bitten on the arm.

The dog - believed to have been an American Bulldog - died in the incident, the Metropolitan Police said.

A spokesperson said: “The owner had restrained the dog before officers arrived and the dog died at the scene.

“Officers did not use any force on the dog.”

London Ambulance Service said a man was treated for arm injuries and taken to a major trauma centre "as a priority".
