Amir Khan has admitted he felt “very scared” in London as new CCTV footage of the moment he had his £72,000 watch stolen at gunpoint has emerged.

The TV personality has spoken of his terror after a gun was pointed at him when he left a restaurant on Monday night earlier this week.

Two suspects ran towards the former world champion, 35, and his wife Faryal Makhdoom, 30, in the street and one pointed a gun in his face before snatching the diamond-encrusted Franck Muller Vanguard Chronograph timepiece.

Police arrived and searched the area but the men had fled in a getaway car along High Road, Leyton around 9.15pm.

Now the boxer has said he and his wife are now “very scared” to walk around the capital and they have both been left shaken.

He told Good Morning Britain: “You know, even after it happened, I was still in London for another two days, and I was walking around and I was very scared.

“I’m thinking: “I’ve not got a watch on me now, God forbid someone comes at me in the alleyways.” And I do honestly feel very unsafe when I’m walking around London... England... because it is very dangerous.”

New footage of the robbery was played on Good Morning Britain.

Khan and his American influencer wife have been married since 2013 and they have three children - Muhammad Zaviyar, two, Alayna, three, and Lamaisah, seven.

The couple are filming the second series of BBC Three reality show Meet the Khans: Big in Bolton which follows their “crazy, fabulous and fast-paced family life”.

Khan said he has now decided against moving to the capital and he will instead continue to live in his hometown of Bolon in Lancashire.

He added: “London is not a place I want to live in anymore. Our plan to move there is not happening. We’re going to stick with living in our home in Bolton and spending time in Dubai.”

Hours before, Olympic medallist Khan shared photos on Instagram of him shopping with a friend in Oxford Street wearing the rose gold watch which is studded with 719 diamonds.

The star was also wearing the watch at a charity bash for his foundation at the Grosvenor House hotel in Park Lane on Friday.

His wife Makhdoom told GMB the theft was “a really big wake-up call”.

She said: “You work hard so you should be able to treat yourself, but I think Amir sometimes forgets that he could get targeted.

“You never ever, you never think this would happen, so it’s a really big wake-up call. I don’t think you can really walk the streets of London wearing expensive watches and jewellery.”
