Nineteen people were forced to flee their homes in the middle of the night after a fire tore through a maisonette in south-east London.
London Fire Brigade said 58 firefighters rushed to a property above a row of shops on Pickford Lane, Bexleyheath, just before 11.30pm on Thursday, following reports of a fire.
The blaze had engulfed the first and second floor of the maisonette by the time crews arrived and had also spread to the roof of neighbouring properties.
The people inside the building, which included at least one child, had fled before firefighters arrived and some were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.
None are believed to have been seriously injured.
LFB tweeted at around 1am saying: "Crews are tackling a fire in a maisonette above shops on Pickford Lane in #Bexleyheath. Most of the property is alight & the roof."
At around 2.45am they said it was "under control" adding: "19 people left the flats above shops before the Brigade arrived."
At the height of the fire, eight engines were at the scene.
The cause of the blaze has not yet been established.
