A film stuntwoman from Buckinghamshire who was put in a coma by a freak accident on set has revealed the extent of her horrific injuries.

Olivia Jackson, who has worked on films including Star Wars, crashed into a metal camera arm while travelling at high speed as part of filming in South Africa for the forthcoming sci-fi movie Resident Evil: Final Chapter.

The incident left the 32-year-old from Amersham, who was standing in for actress Milla Jovovich, in an induced coma.

Now she has spoken for the first time about her injuries, which included facial "degloving", a shattered shoulder blade, an amputated thumb and the tearing out of five nerves from her spinal cord.

In a Facebook post revealed to South African website Life is Savage, she wrote: "2 weeks in a coma, brain bleed, brain swelling, severed main artery in the neck, crushed & degloved face, several broken ribs, paralyzed arm, shattered scapula, broken clavicle, broken humerus, broken radius & ulna, with an open wound and a 7.5 piece of bone missing, amputated thumb, torn fingers, 5 nerves torn out of the spinal cord.... not my funnest day on set."

In the post about her "long road to recovery", she thanked fans for their prayers and messages of support and pays tribute to her 36-year-old& husband David Grant, also a stuntman, who was he "rock through this difficult time".

Following the incident on September 5, a source described the incident as a freak accident.

“It wasn’t a very dangerous stunt," they said. "She was riding a motorbike in a straight line but due to the scene she had no protective gear or helmet.

“There is a metal arm which carries the camera along. But it malfunctioned and didn’t lift up. It was totally out of her control. She had no chance. She is a lovely lady, the most generous person you could ever meet.”
