Centre courted: ring hidden in tennis ball seals Wimbledon engagement

Happy occasion: Lucille Howe, 44 and Rama Knight 39

It was game, set and love match after a couple got engaged on Centre Court at Wimbledon.

Rama Knight had hidden the ring in a tennis ball with “will you?” written on it as he proposed to girlfriend Lucille Howe.

The couple are both tennis fans and their first date six years ago was a tennis match.

Mr Knight, 39, said he had been waiting six months to pop the question at the right time after asking Lucille’s father Rod in January.

The photographer proposed after the quarter final between Roger Federer and Milos Raonic.

He said: “One of the lineswomen came up afterwards and was hugging and kissing us. It was a really lovely afternoon.”

Actress Miss Howe, 44, said she was “so happy” they were finally getting married. The couple, from Beckenham, have yet to set a date.

Miss Howe said: “He got down on one knee in front of everyone. He was holding the ball in one hand and the ring in the other.

“I just started shaking. I’d even joked earlier that day about him proposing at Wimbledon.

“We love tennis so it couldn’t have been more perfect.”
