Cyclist crushed by tipper truck in Finchley road in critical condition

A cyclist was in a serious condition in hospital today after being crushed by a tipper truck in rush hour.

The 44-year-old man suffered pelvic and leg injuries following the collision in Fortune Green.

It caused huge tailbacks for nearly two hours as roads were closed to deal with the collision which occurred at 7.22am in Finchley Road.

Paramedics treated the man by the roadside before he was rushed to St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington.

The crash comes after three cyclists were killed in three weeks in London, most recently French student Philippine de Gerin-Ricard who became the first Boris Bike fatality after being knocked down in Aldgate.
