A cyclist has avoided serious injury after a crash with a lorry in south London.

Police were called to Blackfriars Road at the junction with St George’s Circus in Southwark shortly after 8.35am to reports of a road traffic collision between a cyclist and a lorry.

Paramedics from London Ambulance Service were reportedly passing the scene at the time of the crash and tended to the cyclist.

The rider sustained minor injuries but was not taken to hospital.

The road was blocked while emergency services attended but has since reopened.

Last month, a man in a wheelchair was hit by a lorry at the same junction and pictures of the crumpled wheelchair were posted on Twitter.

The man was treated for a head injury before being taken as a priority to King’s College Hospital.
