A cyclist is fighting for his life after he was involved in a horror crash with a car in Bethnal Green.

The 33-year-old rider suffered a serious head injury and was rushed to an east London hospital where his condition was described as life threatening.

Police were called to a collision between a car and a cyclist in Pritchard's Road at the junction with Whiston Road just before 8pm on Thursday.

The driver stopped at the scene and was not arrested. Police said they were helping them with their investigation.

Detectives from the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit have appealed for any witnesses to the collision to contact them.

Ewan Crallan, who took a picture of the scene, tweeted: "Please can we have more #spaceforcycling. It's horrible seeing this on way home in #hackney."

Anyone who witnessed the collision or has any information is asked to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit at Chadwell Heath on 0208 597 4874 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111
