A three-year-old boy has died after being struck by a car in north London.

Police and paramedics were scrambled to the scene in East End Road, East Finchley, on Wednesday evening.

The child was rushed to hospital after suffering injuries in the crash but he later died.

His next of kin have been informed.

Officers launched an appeal for witnesses or those with dash cam footage of the fatal collision to come forward.

The driver of the car, a Toyota Rav4, stopped at the scene and has not been arrested.

“Enquiries are underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the collision,” the Met said in statement.

“Officers are keen to hear from anyone who has dashcam footage or who witnessed the incident first hand. “
