East Ham crash: Motorcyclist fighting for life after being hit by car near Upton Park

A motorcyclist is fighting for his life in hospital after a horror crash with a car in the early hours near Upton Park football stadium.

The male rider was taken by paramedics to hospital shortly after midnight after reports of a crash in Barking Road, East Ham.

His condition has been described as critical.

Detectives from the Met’s Roads and Transport are investigating after police were called to the scene by ambulance crews at 12.15am on Sunday to reports of a collision.

A section of Barking Road, between Green Street and Priory Road just yards from West Ham United's Boleyn Ground, was closed for several hours following the crash.

Officers have launched an appeal for any witnesses to the collision or the moments leading up to it to contact them.

The driver of the car stopped at the scene and no arrests have been made.
