A cyclist is in hospital with "serious" injuries after a crash in east London that shut a busy high street.

The man's condition was not thought to be life-threatening following the crash in East Ham, police confirmed. London Ambulance Service could not immediately be contacted for comment.

High Street North remains shut after the crash, which happened at about 2.20pm at the junction with Heigham Road, near East Ham Tube station.

Earlier today two pedestrians were left with head injuries following a collision with a cyclist in Millbank, while two separate crashes involving London buses claimed the lives of two pedestrians within 12 hours.

A motorcyclist is being treated for "serious injuries" after a crash in Walthamstow this morning.
