Fearne Cotton's got it covered as rain catches out Londoners

Fearne Cotton was prepared for the rain as she carried a fetching pink umbrella on her way to the BBC Radio 1 studios today.

But others dashing to work in central London had to use newspapers and scarves to shield themselves from the downpours.

Today’s grey skies and puddles were in sharp contrast to yesterday’s hot sunshine as temperatures plunged from nearly 30C into the upper teens.

Forecasters are predicting a similarily cool weekend.

A Met Office spokesman said: “We’ll see outbreaks of rain over the weekend and there will be a much cooler feel to things over the next day or two.

“There may even be some sunshine to be had, but it will certainly be feeling fresher.”
