A female Metropolitan Police officer has been struck off after taking cocaine.

PC Toni Harris, from Barking and Dagenham police, underwent a random drugs test in December 2015 which came back positive for the Class A drug.

At a misconduct hearing on April 7, it was also revealed that the officer had lied about events leading up to the test.

She was struck off on the grounds that she had acted against the Force’s Standards of Professional Behaviour.

It was found that PC Harris had not acted with “honesty and integrity”, had showed “discreditable conduct” and was not “fit for duty”.

Detective Chief Superintendent Matt Gardner Directorate of Professional Standards said: "To serve the public, police officers must be honest and act with integrity as a basic standard.

“PC Harris used illegal drugs and invented an untruthful account to cover up her misconduct.

“The chair was right in their decision for dismissal.”
