Developers have revealed plans for a £400m apartment complex in Islington on the site of an old Royal Mail sorting office.

The cheapest properties at the Islington Square development will cost close to three quarters of a million pounds, going up to £1.79m for higher-end properties.

The development will have a mix of one, two and three bedroom flats on offer along with maisonettes and penthouses.

The outline document does not say how much floor space buyers will get for their money.

Prices start at £715,000, rising to £1.79m.

The 500,000 sq ft site occupys the former North London Mail Centre, off Upper Street, and will feature 263 Edwardian-style homes, shops, restaurants and leisure facilities centred around public boulevards and walkways.

The first preview of the £400m development is this Thursday, ahead of a four-day sales push, it has been announced.

Planning permission was granted in 2007 and 2012 after developers Sager bought the mail offices for £30 million in 2003.

Bathrooms and en-suites include mirror concealed vanity units, underfloor heating and heated towel rails.

Potential buyers can take a tour of the development at the preview, which will contain a show-apartment and large scale models of the complex.

The preview marks the start of a glitz-filled four day launch with a festival taking place at the development from Friday to Sunday.

VIPs expected to attend the Festival of Culture include comedians Richard Herring. Joel Dommett and Imran Yusuf along with singer Miss Hope Springs with a street food market and pop up cinema among the entertainment.
