This amusing footage shows what happened when a London estate agent put two children in charge of viewing a potential new home.

Filmed as part of an experiment to find out what would happen if youngsters became more involved in the moving process, two siblings explored the three-storey house separately from their parents.

The video shows the brother and sister excitedly running around the property commenting on the amount of room for a trampoline in the garden and the excellent view of next door’s underwear on the washing line.

The children also discussed the suitability of the downstairs bathroom as a hiding place and the comfort of the chairs and beds.

Meanwhile, their parents were more concerned with the size of the rooms and the “natural flow of the house”.

When it came to how much the children thought the house would cost, the younger child valued the property at just £2,000, while his elder sister guessed it was worth £3 million.

Property specialist Chestertons set up the experiment after discovering that 84 per cent of parents do not consult their parents at all during the moving process.

Daniel Killick, from the Kew branch of Chestertons, said: “It was refreshing to have such an unusual and honest assessment from property viewers who pulled no punches when it came to saying what they did and didn’t like about the house.

"Kids have to go through all the upheaval of moving home and settling in somewhere new too, so it’s great to get them involved from the word go provided they are old enough to comprehend what’s going on and won’t get upset by the idea of such a big change.”
