A huge replica of the capital was set on fire tonight to mark the 350th anniversary of the Great Fire of London.

The 120-metre structure of 17th century London was set alight on the river Thames this evening at 8.30pm.

Called London 1666, the spectacular blaze had been captured on multiple cameras.

Those who werenot able to make it down to the river, between Blackfriars and Waterloo Bridge, were able to watch it being live-streamed on YouTube.

The project was put together by artists David Best and the Artichoke organisation, retelling the story of a blaze that hit the capital 350 years ago.

It began on September 2 1666 at a baker’s shop in Pudding Lane and raged for four days.

Carrie Symonds tweeted: "What an awesome piece of commemorative art. Stunning."
