Hampstead fire: Dramatic video shows huge blaze tearing through north London flats

This dramatic footage shows a huge fire tearing through a block of flats in north London.

A woman died after flames engulfed the second and third floor of the four-storey building in Hampstead in the early hours of Tuesday.

The shocking video, filmed by the daughter of a resident who lived in another flat, showed bright flames lighting the sky as fire crews battled to tackle them.

Charlotte Donoghue, 27, filmed her mother’s flat as it went up in smoke.

She said: "My mother was in there with my two boys.

"Thankfully his they all escaped but she had lost everything."

Firefighters rescued a woman from the building but she was pronounced dead at the scene, the London Fire Brigade said.

Pictures of the blazes showed the roof and the top floor of the house completely engulfed in flames.

The cause of the fire is now under investigation.

Crews from West Hampstead, Kentish Town, Euston, Paddington and Holloway fire stations attended the scene.
