With a wave of a wand and swish of a ball gown, children can now be transported to a fairy-tale world in the heart of London.

Disney and Harrods today announced the launch of a princess-themed “Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique” for children, which promises to turn them into their favourite character for the day.

Inspired by the scene in Cinderella when the Fairy Godmother works her magic before the ball, the dazzling boutique is the first Disney Resorts offering in the UK. Its five-tiered “experiences” for children aged three to 12, which range in price from £50 to £1,000, include a transformation with hair styling, costume and face painting.

The boutique is set in a fairy tale “castle” within the store.

Children are led into a room done up as a stone castle chamber. They greet the Fairy Godmother in a looking glass before entering the make-over suite.

Girls can choose their favourite princess to be for the day while the boys can be knights, and a Fairy Godmother-in-training transforms them while telling them a fairy story.

Anna Hill, vice-president of Disney UK, said: “The Boutique lets children step into the world of classic Disney character and celebrate the qualities like kindness and bravery that make them true heroes and heroines.”

As well as chandeliers, gilt mirrors and velvet sofas, the dressing tables are customised according to each Disney princess, with apples on Snow White’s dressing table and a rose on Belle’s.

Kathryn Foster, 34, said her three-year old daughter Florrie “loved” the experience, adding: “This is just incredible — I can’t believe how professional it all looks and how nice the staff are with the children.

“Florrie is completely in awe of it all today. She never shuts up usually but today she’s stunned into silence.”

The boutique is the latest Disney offering at Harrods which also includes a Disney Store and Disney Café. Last year they worked with designers to create dresses inspired by the Disney Princess stories.

The Disney Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique opens at Harrods on Monday.
