A young woman has been killed cycling in north-west London.
She was in collision with a car in Harrow Weald, at the junction of College Hill Road and Kenton Lane, before 9am on Friday.
She was rushed to hospital but did not survive her injuries.
The woman, who was in her mid-twenties, is the fourth person to die cycling in London in 2023, the third in collision with a vehicle.
A Met spokeswoman said police were called to the junction - in a suburban residential area - by the London Ambulance Service at 8.55am following reports of a collision involving a cyclist and a car.
The spokeswoman said: “The cyclist, a woman in her 20s, was taken to hospital where she sadly died of her injuries. Her family have been informed and will be supported by officers.
“Road closures remain in place in the area as we continue the investigation and a full examination of the scene.
“The Met’s Serious Collisions Investigation Unit is leading the investigation into the collision. There have been no arrests.
“Any witnesses or anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting CAD 1842/15SEP.”
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We sent a number of resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, a medic in a fast response car, an advanced paramedic and an incident response officer. We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.
“Our first medic arrived in less than a minute. We treated a woman at the scene and took her to a major trauma centre as a priority.”
Last month a 27-year-old woman, whose name has not been released by police at the request of her family, was killed in collision with a lorry on Battersea bridge.
Last week a protest by London Cycling Campaign calling for safety improvements at the bridge was attended by hundreds of cyclists.
