An adorable bouncing toddler stole the limelight from a shopping centre manager during an interview on national television.

The child, dressed in a Spiderman shirt, was enjoying a ride on the “bungee trampoline” at Brent Cross as the BBC spoke to manager Tom Nathan about post-Christmas sales.

As an oblivious, bespectacled Mr Nathan discussed the mall’s fortunes, the child entered the shot strapped to two bungee ropes and went on to bound several feet into the air.

The priceless moment, broadcast on Boxing Day evening, was captured by Twitter user David Hooper‏ (@hoopdogg) who immortalised it in a two-second video.

“Brent Cross Shopping Centre manager totally photobombed by small child,” he added.

Nicol Edwards ‏(@nicadoodledont) admitted: “The kid on the bungee? I was tittering at him also.”

Mr Hooper responded that the boy was “like Zebedee” – a reference to the Magic Roundabout character with a giant spring instead of a lower-body.

Corinne Leck said the perspective in the shot made it look like Mr Nathan “could have swallowed” the tot.

‏The trampoline is maintained by a firm called Bungee Fly and toured shopping centres during the festive period, visiting Brent Cross in north-west London from Boxing Day until last weekend.

Youngsters are placed in harnesses and attached to a bungee rope by each arm, before jumping onto a waiting trampoline below.

A spokeswoman for the north London based firm told the Standard the attraction was “really popular” and could often be seen at Brent Cross and Watford shopping centres.

Participants can bounce up to six metres in the air, she added – nearly the height of a two-storey house.

“Superhero merchandise was one of our most popular Christmas shopping purchases over the festive period,” said Mr Nathan, “and we were delighted to see Spider-Man make a surprise appearance during my interview with the BBC.”

And he claimed: “This just goes to show that even superheroes find it hard to resist the post-Christmas sale bargains at Brent Cross.”
