A homeless man has been robbed, kicked in the head and had a bottle thrown at him in a series of sickening attacks in north London.

The man, known only as Chris, survives by selling his drawings on the street outside Clapton Overground Station for £15.

And volunteer groups have now revealed he has been the victim of three attacks in just one week.

The first incident occurred last Tuesday when a thief stole Chris’s suitcase full of drawings as well as the small change he had collected throughout the day while he was asleep.

In two further incidents on Saturday night, Chris had a bottle thrown at him and was kicked in the head by a passer-by, leaving him with a bloodied ear.

Beinish Beigel, of neighbourhood policing group the Shomrim, said Chris is now afraid to go to sleep.

He said: “Last night some Shomrim members gave him a hot coffee and some cakes.

“They had a long friendly chat with him, which he very much enjoyed.

“He told us he is too afraid to go to sleep as he fears he will be robbed again. Chris is a very nice person, he’s harmless and friendly.”

Mr Beigel added that Chris is receiving help and hopes to be housed with his dog in the next couple of days.

A Met Police spokesman confirmed the Shomrim have passed on the details of the incidents to them.
