A chain of karaoke bars is encouraging children to sing by giving schools access to its music.

Lucky Voice, which runs bars in Soho and Islington, launched the free service today, saying that singing can increase concentration and improve self confidence.

Pupils at Primrose Hill primary school, left, were among the first to try the new online software, which turns any computer into a karaoke machine with thousands of songs to choose from and stream via a website.

Katie Butler, head of music at the school, said: “We use it for warm ups and vocal exercises, and as a reward.”

Nick Thistleton from Lucky Voice said: “Through singing children learn that music helps to express feelings and ideas.

“It can help focus their minds and relax their bodies. The endorphins make you feel great.”

Schools wanting to take part should email Charlie@luckyvoice.com.
