The average trip from home to work was 45 minutes in the capital, the same as Lisbon, and less than Madrid (46 minutes), Athens (47 minutes), Paris (49 minutes) and Rome (52 minutes).
Only Berliners had a shorter commute among European capitals analysed, with journeys there taking 43 minutes on average.
The research was compiled by journey planner app Moovit, which has 680 million users worldwide.
The Israeli tech company used open-source data from rail operators, buses and walking routes.
The report also reveals Londoners have Britain’s longest commutes. The capital’s 45-minute average compared with 44 minutes in Birmingham, 39 minutes in Scotland and 34 minutes in the South-West.
Five per cent of London workers commute for more than two hours, with a further 18 per cent travelling between one to two hours.
On average, Londoners travel about seven miles to get to work, and walk for nearly half a mile on average.
