London commuters' innovate solution to avoid flooded Blackfriars footpath

London's ever inventive commuters showed that this week's rain wasn't about to dampen their spirits when they scaled a wall to avoid flooding.

After floodwater blocked a path outside Blackfriars station last night, workers edged along a wall as they showed their intrepid side on their journeys home.

Passers-by stopped to capture the moment on their smartphones, as others stepped in to lend a helping hand - seemingly unconcerned about the prospect of getting their own feet wet.

After torrential downpours yesterday and overnight, forecasters now say the wet weather that has hit London is set to ease towards the end of the week.

Sean Penston, from forecasters MeteoGroup, said: "The system affecting us now will weaken over the next 36 hours.

"Tomorrow onwards we are looking at a general warming trend, with 19C across south-east England. Over the weekend we could see 21C-22C across the South East and a predominantly dry day on Saturday."
