London is set to be warmer than Barcelona as temperatures soar this weekend.
The mercury could peak at an astonishing 33C on Sunday, around 4C higher than the Catalan hotspot, as the capital basks in glorious sunshine.
According to the Met Office, Thursday's warm temperatures are set to rise and rise as the weekend approaches.
Forecaster Oli Claydon told the Standard: "In London there's a lovely weekend ahead.
"On Friday there's patchy cloud around potentially in the morning but that will start to disappear quite early.
"If there's any cloud around on Saturday morning, that will quickly be burnt off and it's the same story for Sunday.
"The same warm, sunny conditions are expected to last into early next week."
On Friday, temperatures will be between 23C and 25C, the forecaster claimed.
By Saturday, Londoners could be enjoying sweltering highs of 30C with even higher levels on Sunday.
And that could well continue on Monday and Tuesday, with temperatures expected to be in the low 30s as Londoners return to work.
But the warm weather during the day is also expected to lead to an uncomfortable night's sleep for many.
The low overnight on Saturday could be around 17C, Mr Claydon said.
