Cabaret star Madame JoJo is to return for a one-off performance at the Soho club of the same name.

Madame JoJo — who prefers to be known only by the stage name — began hosting entertainment at Madame JoJo’s in Brewer Street in 1986 and last appeared in the early Nineties.

The drag act is set to return with a host of faces from the club’s past, including performers, former bar staff, dancers and regular customers for The Madame JoJo’s Reunion.

The venue has been a hub for drag stars and has seen performances over the years from Ruby Venezuela, Lily Savage, Adrella and Regina Fong. Celebrities enjoying the entertainment have included Liza Minnelli, Joan Rivers, Boy George, The Pet Shop Boys and Frankie Goes To Hollywood.

The reunion show at the club takes place on Wednesday at 7pm, with the proceeds from the £6 tickets going to Children With Aids Charity.

One of the former performers, Scarlett Rose, said: “It’s going to be a great retro night and a look back at when the club used to have cabaret six nights a week.

“Madame JoJo was the grand doyen of Soho, very welcoming, very witty.

“She was always there to lend an ear for the other performers. She really was the hostess with the mostess.”
