Man, 54, found dead in 'unexplained' circumstances in Feltham Pond

A 54-year-old man been found dead in a pond in Feltham, south west London.

Emergency services were called after locals spotted the man but were unable to save him.

Police said the death on Tuesday morning was “unexplained” and they are yet to formally identify the man.

One local, who works in a shop near the pond, said: "About 10am there were lots of sirens from the police and ambulance.

"A customer told me they thought there was a body in the pond and I saw police looking at something, maybe clothes or rubbish.

"The next time I looked over there was a body. A paramedic was attending to him. Then sadly a white cover was placed over it.

"The area remains cordoned off and the body has not been moved yet."

A police spokeswoman said: “Police were called on Tuesday, 13 August at 9.55am to a location near St Lawrence’s Church Feltham, following a report of a body in a pond.

“Officers attended and recovered the body of a man believed to be aged 54.

“London Ambulance Service also attended. Despite the best efforts of emergency service workers life was pronounced extinct at 10:15hrs.

“Next-of-kin have been informed but we await formal identification.

“The Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards have been updated and will monitor the situation.

“The death is being treated as unexplained at this time and enquiries are ongoing. A file will be prepared for HM's Coroner.”
