Man arrested on suspicion of drink driving after four car smash in Elephant and Castle

A man has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving after a four car smash at a roundabout in south London.

The crash happened at the Newington Butts junction in Elephant and Castle in the early hours of this morning.

Police were called to the scene at 4.10am following reports of a collision involving four vehicles.

A man aged in his 30s was taken to hospital by paramedics from the London Ambulance Service but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening or life-changing, Scotland Yard said.

Another man who was arrested at the scene by police remains in custody at a south London police station.

Motorists faced delays in the area following the incident. London Road was closed while officers investigated.

Some drivers posted their reactions to the crash on social media as traffic began to build in the aftermath.

One person wrote: "Serious traffic around Elephant and Castle due to dirty car crash. Avoid if possible!"
