A man has died following a house fire.

Firefighters were called to a blaze in Addiscombe Court in Croydon, south London, this morning.

The fire damaged part of the ground floor of the terraced house and crews found the body of a man in a rear bedroom on the ground floor.

The London Fire Brigade was called at 11.35am and the fire was under control within 25 minutes.

Two fire engines and 14 firefighters and officers from Woodside and Addington fire stations attended the incident.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
